St. Patrick’s Day, or rather “St. Patty’s Day”, is coming up quickly on March 17, and that means it’s time to go green!
If you’re not interested in wearing green clothes, there’s always the option of creating some fun costume props to celebrate the occasion. So, this week we’ve shown you how to create St. Patrick’s Day props to stay festive.

Plan and prep. Choose your colour scheme and your product. If you would like to replicate the design we have featured in this project, simply refer to list above. This tutorial will assume you’ve selected these items.
Leprechaun Top Hat. Cut a simple hat shape out of card stock and use Scotch® Expressions Washi Tape, Yellow to create a buckle and Scotch® Expressions Washi Tape, Black to create the band. To cover the entire hat use Scotch® Expressions Masking Tape, Mint Mosaic and Scotch® Expressions Masking Tape, Dark Green to create a pattern, and trim the excess. You are left with a striped hat! Attach a wooden dowel to the back, to create your prop.
Shamrock Shades. Cut two shamrock shapes and cue eye holes in center of each, and then tape both shapes together in the center. Following the same process for the hat decoration, use alternating patterns of tape and cover the edges. Flip over the edges, trim and adhere to a wooden dowel. Your shamrock glasses are ready!
Festive Bow tie. Cut out a giant bow tie shape of your card stock. Begin by decorating the center of the bow tie in the same way you did the previous two props, and then use your utility knife to trim. Cover the remainder of the tie, trimming as you go, and then adhere to a wooden dowel.
Mustache Mania. Cut out a mustache shape from your card stock. Decorate and cover using Scotch® Expressions Masking Tape, Mint Mosaic. Cover the tips of your mustache with green tape for a fun look.
EXPERT TIP: Be creative! Using the ideas above, start thinking of ways you can pose with your props and consider sharing a St. Patrick’s Day #selfie with your friends and family!
