St. Patrick’s Day: Photo booth

St. Patrick’s Day is just five days away! With a little luck and lots of charm (and tape, of course), you can create this DIY Photo booth background for your kids or the festive party that you’re hosting.

Make sure to use this with the St. Patrick’s Day Props  DIY project, for a charming photo opp or #selfie!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from the Scotch® Brand Team!

SKILL LEVEL: Easy

TIME NEEDED: Approximately 1 hour to 75 minutes

Scotch® Brand Supplies:

OTHER SUPPLIES/TOOLS

  • Utility Knife
  • Straight edge ruler
  • Cutting Mat
  • Card stock

Plan and prep. Choose your colour scheme and your product. If you would like to replicate the design we have featured in this project, simply refer to list above. This tutorial will assume you’ve selected these items. You will be spelling out the word ‘luck’ on the wall, and have a star burst design as well.
1200x1200_StPatsDIYBooth_Step1‘L’ and ‘C’ letter creation. Using Scotch® Expressions Masking Tape, Mint Mosaic and Scotch® Expressions Masking Tape, Dark Green to create an L shape (measuring about 14 in. tall and 10 in. wide) and alternate the tape as shown, while overlapping at the corner. Then, use your straight edge to score the tape diagonally, lift and peel away the excess tape. Continue to lift and peel away overlapping tape until you have a clean corner. Repeat this process for the letter ‘C’, but make sure to leave approximately 12-14 inches between the letters for your letter ‘U’.

Using Scotch® Expressions Masking Tape, Mint Mosaic and Scotch® Expressions Masking Tape, Lemon Lime to create a ‘U’ shape (measuring about 14 in. tall and 10 in. wide) and alternate the tape as shown, while overlapping at the corner. Then, use your straight edge to score the tape diagonally lift and peel away the excess tape. Continue to lift and peel away the overlapping tape until you have a clean corner. Repeat this process for the letter ‘K’.

Star burst design. To create the star burst patterns, begin with a vertical line. Place a second piece of the same length perpendicular to the first, then a third diagonally and ensure all pieces cross in the center. Place a fourth piece on the opposite diagonal. Using a coordinating pattern, apply another diagonal piece between the solid pieces as shown. Continue until you have completed the star burst shape as shown. Repeat this process with different tape pattern and sizes!

EXPERT TIP: To avoid scoring the wall with your utility knife, lift the corner that you are about to cut, and temporarily place a piece of card stock underneath. Use your straight edge and knife to cut through the tape without worry of scoring the wall. After the corner is cleaned up, measure your shape and trim to size.
