A Knitted Archway

The cool weather is coming, but this project can warm up your home with a funky knitted look. The traditional patterns of knitting are given a modern spin with our Scotch Expressions™ Tapes as we re-create those time honoured motifs in a new way.

This archway, an often-overlooked area in the home, turns into a stunning focal point with this bright application.

1200x1200_KnittedArch_Step1Plan and prep. Choose your colour scheme and your product. If you would like to replicate the design we have featured in this project, simply refer to list above. This tutorial will assume you’ve selected these items.
1200x1200_KnittedArch_Step2Create squares. Use your cutting mat and utility knife to trim all your colors of the Scotch Expressions™ Tapes into squares. You can use a ruler for perfect edges or cut without for a more natural, textured result.
1200x1200_KnittedArch_Step3Begin at the floor. For this design we started by lining the base of the doorjamb with Scotch Expressions™ Masking Tape, Mint Mosaic. We placed them at a 45-degree angle to create a diamond pattern.
1200x1200_KnittedArch_Step5Build on your pattern. The design of this pattern is meant to mimic traditional knitting stitches. We started with an arch and then stacked a star pattern followed by a wave pattern on top. To keep the patterns level and neat, we placed a straight run of the Scotch Expressions™ Masking Tape, Mint Mosaic between each line of pattern.
1200x1200_KnittedArch_Step6Repeat. Once you have applied each line of patterns simply begin at the first pattern and repeat!

EXPERT TIP: Alternating the pattern with color creates a bright and bold accent! Add as many patterns or colors as you’d like!
