DIY Sunshinin’ Bench

A well-designed room is carefully coordinated from the flooring and paint, to the fabrics and furniture. In this space we have added a little something extra to this plain bench, and now it coordinates with the fabrics in the room perfectly!

The repositionable tapes make it easy to take an existing piece of furniture and customize it to match a new space in the home, and the variety of patterns and colors will coordinate with a large  range of styles and trends.

1200x1200_BenchYellow_Step1Plan and prep. Choose your colour scheme and your product. If you would like to replicate the design we have featured in this project, simply refer to list above. This tutorial will assume you’ve selected these items.
1200x1200_BenchYellow_Step2Create the shapes. Use your cutting mat and utility knife to trim the Scotch Expressions™ Yellow Gold Stars Tape into triangles; these can then be used to create the diamond pattern shown here.
1200x1200_BenchYellow_Step4Repeat the Pattern. After applying the first row of diamonds, position a strip of the Scotch Expressions™ Gold Tape vertically along the diamonds edges. You can then repeat this pattern down the seat of the bench. We created a detail on the end of the seat about ¼ of the length.
1200x1200_BenchYellow_Step5Add some detail. To carry the pattern through the rest of the bench we added a line of Scotch Expressions™ Yellow Gold Stars down the front of the legs, and a double line of Scotch Expressions™ Gold Tape to the face.

EXPERT TIP: Repeating colors or patterns throughout a space helps to unify the space and creates a custom look!
